At the 2011 census, Andros had 9221 residents, of which 3,901 lived in the municipality of Chora, 1,948 in the municipality of Korthio and 3,372 in the municipality of Ydrousa.

A small number of people living in the north living off the island are descendants of Albanian emigrants who moved to Andros in the late Middle Ages. If you look closely, the villages in the north still leave a hint of 'Albania' and the population, Arvanites, still speak Arvanitika, an Albanian dialect.
