Vacations and Sightseeing
The small town of Limenas (also called Thasos) is the capital and main port of Thasos. It is located on the northern coast of the island, on the site of the ancient city of Thasos.
Thasos offers an abundance of hotels, restaurants, shops, banks, bars, cafes and clubs and also has a post office and a bus station. The old quarter is the most beautiful part of the town, with a very interesting museum and several ruins. Some of the archaeological excavations, such as the ancient walls, the Acropolis, the theatre, the temple of Apollo, testify to the glorious past of the island. There are beautiful beaches at a short distance.
The traditional village of Theologos is located south of Thasos Town, between Kastro and Kinira. It is a beautiful village with beautiful houses and mansions. Theologos is famous for its good food and excellent tavernas, one of the specialities is goat. Every year in June, there is a traditional local wedding in this village.
