Climate and Weather
Thasos has a Mediterranean climate with warm, dry summers and mild, wet winters. On Thassos, it is on average a bit cooler than on the other islands in the Aegean Sea, especially in winter and in spring and autumn.
However, the average temperature in July and August is still around 28°C, but in January it gets only 7°C during the day. The average annual temperature on Thasos is 16.5°C. The sun shines annually about 2600 hours on Thasos.
Thasos, with an average rainfall of 800 mm, is somewhat wetter than the other islands in the Aegean Sea. Most rain falls in the months of December to February with an average of about 9 rain days per month; the least rain falls in August, but even that month still has two rain days.
The Meltemi, a north-easterly wind, ensures throughout the year that it is not too hot on Thasos. Nevertheless, it is not excluded that the temperature occasionally exceeds 40 ° C.
