Santorini has a Mediterranean climate with mild, wet winters and dry, hot summers. The average daily temperature in July is 29°C, in January it is 14°C. The annual average temperature is 17.5°C. In summer, the temperature can easily exceed 40°C at times.
The annual average precipitation is very low, about 400 mm, divided into 68 rainy days. The months of December and January are generally the wettest months of the year, in the month of July there is normally no precipitation at all.
The number of sunshine hours on Santorini is 2890 annually. The Meltemi, a north-easterly wind similar to the French Mistral, often provides some cooling on Santorini.
