Climate and Weather
Samos has a Mediterranean climate with warm, dry summers and mild, but wet winters. The average daily temperature in July is about 31°C, in January it is about 12°C. The annual average temperature on Samos is 17.8 °C. Heat waves with temperatures of 40°C or more are no exception. In late April and early May it may not be as warm as one would expect; especially along the still relatively cool seawater it can still be chilly. The transition to the really warm weather occurs at the end of May, beginning of June. At the end of October, the chance of showers increases and the wind also picks up.
The average annual rainfall on Samos is 702 mm, distributed over approximately 80 days. The most rain falls in the months of November to February; the least rain in the months of July and August.
On average, the sun shines 3010 hours on Samos. In the months of June and July the sun shines about 13-14 hours per day. On Samos the Meltemi is often present, a pleasantly cooling wind from the north.
