Population
At the 2011 census, the population of the Peloponnese was almost 581,980. The largest city, Patras, is the third largest city in Greece in terms of population, after Athens and Thessaloniki. At first glance, the population of Greece, especially outside the capital Athens, is very homogeneous.
Nevertheless, Greece has the highest percentage of immigrants in the entire European Union. It is estimated that one in ten people in Greece is of foreign origin, the majority of whom are from Albania. Most work in agriculture or construction and stand in groups in the morning waiting for work to be offered.
In recent years, more and more Asians can be seen in the agricultural areas of the Peloponnese and North and West African vendors in the cities and at tourist highlights.
