Vacations and Sightseeing
The main source of income for the Costa Blanca is tourism. Every year, between 10 and 20 million tourists visit this region. Benidorm is the most important tourist attraction. The more culturally interested can find places of interest in Alicante and in Valencia, which is a little further away.
Although most people fly to Benidorm to spend the day at the beach and work on their tan, one can also spend a day in the city to see things. The absolute highlight when it comes to sights is the church of San Jaime, a patron saint of the city, which dates back to the 18th century.
L'Aigüera Park is also worth a visit. This park was designed by Ricardo Bofill, a well-known Spanish architect, in a neoclassical style. It is also a lovely park for many Spaniards from the city to have an afternoon picnic or to enjoy a glass of wine or beer at the end of the afternoon.
But in the end, almost every tourist in Benidorm will always return to the most popular attraction of the city: the beach. Benidorm itself has 3 main beaches: the Levante beach, the Poniente beach and the Mal Pas beach. These beaches are often very wide and long and are well visited. Read more on the Benidorm page.
