Language

Creole, English and French are the three official languages of the Seychelles. Creole is the common language and is a mixture of mainly French and also Arabic, English and some Bantu languages from Africa. Seychelles Creole is similar to that spoken in Mauritius and Martinique, but different from that spoken in RĂ©union. The spelling of Creole has finally been fixed in a dictionary and this spelling is also used in schools.

The following words are proof that the Creole language originated mainly in French:

Good afternoon - bonzour
Good evening - bonzwar
Goodbye - orevwar
Much - bokou
Water - delo
My Luggage - mon bagaz
