Language

The official language of Liechtenstein is German, but it is actually only used as an official language and in education.

However, the spoken language of practically all Liechtensteinians, also called Liechtensteiner Düütsch, is an Alemannic dialect, which is also frequently used on radio and television.

Within this dialect, it is notable that every municipality has its own variant. However, three distinct dialect areas can be identified: the municipalities in the Rhine Valley of the Oberland, the municipality of Triesenberg and the Unterland.
