Vacations and Sightseeing
Al Ain is a major attraction for tourists outside Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Al Ain is located in the southeast near the border with Oman. The complex includes a number of fascinating buildings, such as the Al Ain Museum and the National Museum. This is the oldest of its kind in the United Arab Emirates. There are ethnographic and archaeological sections dating back to the Bronze Age. The famous Sultan Fort can be found next door.
In a vast void, the Liwa Oasis is one of the most impressive rural communities in the United Arab Emirates. There are numerous villages where tourists can get a glimpse of traditional Bedouins and their lifestyle and culture. The area is located south of Dubai and buses and vans often drive to this oasis. It is also the starting point for desert safaris.
Sharjah is one of the oldest cities in the Emirates. The soukhs offer all sorts of things for sale. Sharjah has an important art museum which opened in 1997. The sultan is one of the museum's most important patrons. There is a large collection of paintings from the 18th century by painters who captured the Orient.
