On Kosrae, about 85% of the population is Congregationalist and religion still plays a very big role in the daily life of the people here. Religious practices have hardly changed since the end of the 19th century. Services are in the Kosraean language and are famous for the exuberant choral singing. Kosrae also has three Mormon churches, an Assembly of God congregation, a Baptist church, a Catholic church and a Seventh-day Adventist school.
The population of Pohnpei and Chuuk is roughly equally divided between Protestants and Catholics. Chuuk has the largest Protestant church in Pohnpei and also has a new church for the approximately 500 Congregationalists of Kosrae. The oldest church in Chuuk dates from 1875 and stood on Mortlock Island. The population of Yap is mainly Catholic.
On all the islands there are also small groups of Mormons, Baptists, Jehovah's Witnesses and followers of Bahái.
