Language
Official languages in both parts of the country are Greek and Turkish. English is the trade language. In the southern part of Cyprus, New Greek is spoken, written and taught. The spoken language differs slightly from the mother tongue in Greece. Most Cypriots also speak English. In the northern part of Cyprus, the language is Turkish. English is also spoken here, although less so than in the south.
