Vacations and Sightseeing
Koror is the capital of Palau. This is the most populous place in the country, surrounded by many natural wonders. Koror is visited by many travellers throughout the year. This beautiful city offers exceptional facilities to its visitors. A famous attraction in Koror is the Belau National Museum and the Etpison Museum is also worth visiting. Koror is also the best starting point to visit Rock Islands and Jellyfish Lake.
Rock Islands is a collection of coral islands that rise from the reef and seem to float elevated above the water's surface. Most of them are covered with vegetation and look like mushrooms. Some are small, but many are large and have beautiful white sandy beaches adorned with water lilies. The famous beaches around the islands are Ngermeaus Island, Fantasy Island, Ngemelis Island and Ulong Island.
The real attraction is the underwater world which is truly fantastic. Through crystal clear waters you will see beautiful soft corals, colourful small fish and spectacular reefs. If you are lucky, you can see sharks, napoleon fish and turtles.
The Jellyfish Lake in Palau is one of the most interesting tourist attractions in this country mainly because it is so unusual and impressive. It is a saltwater lake and is located on Eil Malk Island. The lake is more than 12,000 years old. Although it receives water from the ocean through cracks in limestone, the conditions here are very different and the lake is home to very rare jellyfish.
