Mallorca is a large island in the Spanish Balearic region. The island has an area of approximately one hundred by seventy kilometers. With its beautiful nature, attractive climate and fine culture, Mallorca acts as a magnet for tourists from all over the world. Every year no less than 10 million people migrate to the island with its various cities and villages.

Magaluf is a large holiday resort on the Spanish island of Mallorca and is frequently visited by British and Scandinavians and focuses mainly on the package holiday market.

Location

Magaluf is located in the municipality of Calvià and is close to Torrenova and Palma nova. Majorca's main airport is approximately 24 kilometers from Magaluf. Magaluf is located in the southwest of Mallorca on the western side of the bay of Palma. The hinterland consists of grassy plains with scattered buildings and (olive) orchards. To the north, the town turns into the seaside resort of Palma Nova. To the south, the area becomes more sloping and wooded. The bay is bordered on the west by wooded hills with scattered buildings.

Today Magaluf is one of Spain's most touristy holiday destinations and competes with popular (youth) resorts of Benidorm and Ibiza and Salou as one of the best places to enjoy the nightlife during the summer holidays. The resort is popular with young people and families alike, with the peak season in July and August. Mainly English people visit Magaluf.

Weather

The weather in Magaluf is sunny all year round. In the summer months the temperature can reach thirty degrees. Outside the summer months you still have wonderful weather and you can enjoy temperatures of up to twenty degrees. There is not too much rainfall. The best time to travel is in the spring or autumn.

History

Not much can be said about the history of Magaluf. It was originally a coastal town that emerged during the tourist influx in the 1960s.

In addition to bars and nightclubs, there are two water parks, a bungee rocket, go kart racing, horse riding and various water sports such as diving, jet skiing and windsurfing. Tennis, squash and golf are also popular sports. A number of hotels have family-friendly shows and cabarets. Furthermore, excursions can be made with a glass bottom boat or with a catamaran.

The resort has three main beaches, popular for their white sand: Mallorca Beach, Magaluf Beach and Palma Nova Beach. The beaches are quite full in high season. There are a large number of restaurants with terraces on the promenades behind the beaches. Sunbeds and umbrellas are rented from May to October and there is beach surveillance and a first aid post

Tips

There are many bars and nightclubs in Magaluf. The Nightlife in Magaluf is mainly concentrated around the Punta Ballena strip. You can buy a Magaluf Club Pass for 14 euros, which allows you to register for 5 of the major clubs such as Magaluf, including Tokyo Joe's, Buffalo Girls (formerly known as Legends) and Bananas all located on the strip. BCM is the largest nightclub in Magaluf and is located on Avenida S'Olivera. The club consists of two floors and claims to have the largest foam machine in the world. Next to BCM is the BCM square, with a number of bars such as the Baywatch bar. There are many smaller bars and clubs in Magaluf, including Mambo's Beach Club, Poco Loco, Britannia Bar, Goodfellows and Benny Hills.

There is also an astonishing amount of dining options. You will find everything from Mexican to McDonalds. Authentic Spanish cuisine is the hardest to find, but there are still a number of traditional restaurants serving tapas and fresh fish.
