Vacations and Sightseeing
Tarawa is the very interesting capital of Kiribati. It is not a city, but a group of islands surrounded by coral atolls and you need a boat to go from one part of the city to another. It is the Venice of the Pacific. There is a golf course on Ambo Island where the greens are basically sand.
Tabiteueat is the largest and most popular island where traditional dancing, singing and magic still play a dominant role in people's lives. Part of Kiribatizixh's gruesome history took place here. More than 1000 non-believers were killed by Hawaiian preachers in "the name of the book". By the way, the Catholic mission is a good place to spend the night if there is no other space available.
Kiritimati or Christmas Island is the largest coral atoll in the world with many lakes and ponds and the breeding ground of a large number of birds. There are large coconut plantations, fish farms and a plant from which solar salt can be extracted.
