Vacations and Sightseeing
Despite its wild beauty and secluded tropical beaches, Guinea-Bissau is a relatively unknown tourist destination due to long-running instability and conflict. For an adventurous traveller, this can be an exciting destination off the beaten track. The main attractions are the sandy beaches along the coast and the islands of the Bijagós Archipelago. The nature and landscape, including rainforests, reefs and mangroves on the archipelago, is pristine and unspoilt due to Guinea-Bissau's relative inaccessibility. The capital, Bissau, is a quiet but atmospheric city with cultural attractions, a number of nightclubs and the Mediterranean architecture of the Portuguese.
