Tourism is slowly becoming more and more important for the island and its inhabitants. In addition to the attractive beaches, there is the possibility of contact with the indigenous population who are happy to sell their home-made products to the tourists. Dominica has lush rainforests, spectacular mountains, majestic waterfalls and rare flora and fauna. The island is a paradise for tourists. The island is also popular for its continuous geothermal-volcanic activity and the presence of Boiling Lake in the Morne Trois Pitons National Park. Boiling Lake is one of Dominica's natural wonders and attracts millions of tourists every year. The temperature at the edge of the lake is around 82 - 91.5° C. It is the second largest active Boiling Lake in the world.
There are two spectacular waterfalls in Dominica. The Victoria Falls is one of the most spectacular and photogenic waterfalls in the world and a major tourist attraction in Dominica. This majestic waterfall is formed by the White River falling over a cliff. The Trafalgar Falls have become the icon of Dominica. You can reach the top of the falls after a 20-minute hike through orchid and ginger plantations. Of the two waterfalls, one is warm and the other is cool.
