Life expectancy is 74 years. (men 71 and women 77.3 years (2017)
About 80% of the inhabitants are Uzbek. In addition, large groups of Russians, Kazakhs, Tajiks and Tatars live there.
Language
The official language is Uzbek. A minority of the population speaks Russian or another language.
Religion
The majority of the population (88%) is Sunni Muslim. There are also followers of the Russian Orthodox Church (9%). The remaining 3% are of other religions.
