Life expectancy is 76.2 years. (men 73.6 and women 79 years (2024)

Over 80% of the inhabitants are Uzbek. In addition, large groups of Russians, Kazakhs, Tajiks and Tatars live there.

Language

The official language is Uzbek. A minority of the population speaks Russian or another language.

Religion

The majority of the population (88%) is Sunni Muslim. There are also followers of the Russian Orthodox Church (9%). The remaining 3% are of other religions.
