South Korea has a population of 51,181,299 (2017). The population density is almost 511 inhabitants per square kilometre. The population is racially extremely homogeneous and consists of Koreans. There is a very small Chinese community (20,000).

Language

Korean is spoken in South Korea. Children learn English in high school in large numbers.

Religion

The population of South Korea adheres to the following religions: Christianity 49%, Buddhism 47%, Confucianism 3%, other including Shamanism and Chondoism 1%.
