There are are around 3 million people living in Qatar in 2024, making it one of the smaller countries in the Arab world. On average there are about 260 people per km2.
About 11.6% of the total population are Qataris of Central Arab (Najdi) and Persian descent, the remaining inhabitants are immigrants mainly from Iran, Pakistan, India, Yemen, Egypt and several thousand Westerners, many of whom are British.
About 99% of the population lives in cities as the capital Doha or Ad-Dawhah. Other major cities include Ar-Rayyän, Musayïd, Dukhan, Messaieed, Ras Laffan Industrial City, and Al-Wakrah.

- The population growth in 2024 was 0.71%. The birth and death rates in 2024 were 9.1 and 1.4 per 1000 inhabitants respectively.
