Vacations and Sightseeing
The most important tourist cities in Yemen are Sanaa, the capital, Al Mukalla, Dhamar, Kawkaban, and Mokha. Mokha is known as the birthplace of mocha coffee. The beautiful beaches of Al Hudayda enchant tourists with their sheer beauty. Apart from these places, the most exotic destinations in Yemen are: Shibam, Seiyun, and Tarim, the three famous historical cities of Hadhramaut.
There are a few things to keep in mind when planning a holiday to Yemen. Cameras are prohibited in many parts of the country. It is considered very offensive to take pictures of a woman, even if the photographer is a woman. Courtesy and conservative attire are appreciated. The harsh weather conditions should be kept in mind when planning a trip.
In recent years, the country has been torn apart by violent attacks, armed ambushes, civil wars, lawlessness, and regional conflicts. Yemen's natural beauty is one of its greatest attractions. But the troubled political climate has made it necessary to issue travel warnings against travelling to Yemen. It is something for the very adventurous travellers.
