Vacations and Sightseeing
Sint Maarten is a major tourist destination. On the Dutch part of the island is the Princess Juliana International Airport, where Boeing 747 aircraft can land.
Beaches, diving and golfing are popular activities for visitors to Sint Maarten. Fort Amsterdam stands at the beginning of the Sint Anna Bay and was built in 1635. From the fort you have a beautiful view over the tropical bays. Many cruise boats moor in Sint Maarten, which also gives a boost to tourism.
Water sports are the island's most important asset. With surfing, windsurfing, wakeboarding, jet-skiing, kite-surfing, water-skiing, kayaking, sailing and deep-sea fishing on the menu, anyone looking for adventure will find what they are looking for on Sint Maarten. But there is also plenty to do on land. Hiking and horse riding, cycling and quad bike tours are just another way to explore this paradise island. You will gain lasting memories of landscapes, historic and traditional buildings, history and encounters with the locals.
The Courthouse dates back to 1793 and is the national symbol of Sint Maarten.
