The population of Ghana is 27.5 million (2017). The population density is about 115 inhabitants per square kilometre.

Life expectancy is 67 years. (men 64.5 and women 69.6 years (2017)

The population of Ghana is 98.5% black Africans. the main tribes are: Akan 47.5%, Moshi-Dagomba 16.6%, Ewe 13.9%, Ga 7.4%, Gurma 5.7%. Europeans and others make up 1.5% of the population.

Language

English is the official language of Ghana. Furthermore, Akan, Moshi-Dagomba, Ewe and Ga are widely spoken, as well as several other indigenous languages.

Religion

The north of Ghana is Muslim (16%) and the south is Christian (63%). There are also followers of indigenous religions (9%) and 6% follow another religion.
